On a particularly brisk and rainy evening, Yasmin refused to head straight home from work to suffer of boredom in her chic but lonely, loft apartment. She was sick of feeling down and reflecting on one failed relationship after another.

To temporarily cheer herself up, she went shopping and tore the mall up. She left with a new white gold diamond solitaire necklace, four spring dresses, fitted designer jeans, and a super-cute pair of peep-toe pumps.

Yasmin was not indecisive about what she wanted and felt she deserved. Hell, at the age of twenty-eight, she knew exactly what she wanted and a homey, lover, friend didn’t fit the bill. She simply wanted to meet someone perfect for her.

Being single used to be lit, though. Traveling, club hopping, or just dating with no strings. Only now, something was bothering her to the core. In all honesty, she desperately wanted to find someone to love and protect her. Now that she was finally ready and knew the qualities she wanted in her other half, she had no idea when or if she’d ever meet him.

The club scene had been dead lately, and she knew the likelihood of meeting her lover and protector at a club was slim to none. She kept a selected few on deck for when she wanted bomb sex, or just Netflix and chill. A few casual options. But, where was the mystery man with everything necessary to make her delete all old flings?

Now that she had finished grad school and locked down a solid position as the Director of her parent’s property management business, Good Street Inc., she had positioned her life for someone to share her accomplishments with. She often imagined sharing intimate or embarrassing moments and chatting throughout the day with someone who’d make her feel secure about her imperfections; someone unafraid of letting her know they adored her. And of course, someone who’s personality complimented hers.

She daydreamed of starting a family but found the topic to be frowned on by the guys she was meeting and spending time with. She realized she had been meeting all the wrong men and began thinking of ways she would reverse the cycle.

She threw her shopping bags into the trunk and deliberated on where to go for dinner. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time to herself most of the time, but let’s be real. She just wasn’t into always having dinner alone. Anyway, she didn’t feel up for quick and cheap take out. Instead, she preferred something a little more like lobster and Crème Brulee.

She suddenly thought of a new spot in the downtown area she had been meaning to try since their grand opening. She headed straight there and after being seated, pulled out her tablet to create a profile for a popular online dating website. But, she soon talked herself out of signing up by thinking of how dangerous it was to meet guys online.

A waiter approached Yasmin’s table and asked, “Wine, madam?”

“Thank you, I’d like a sparkling wine.
